ALADAĞLAR-TORASAN’DA İLK ÇIKIŞLAR: KATEDRAL T. ‘YUGOSLAV’, TAŞYALAK T.’WHYMPER’ ve BÜYÜKTEKEYATAĞI T.’DİBONA’ 2011

Geçtiğimiz hafta Aladağlar’ın  Torasan bölgesindeydim, arkadaşlarım Doğan Palut ve Batur Kürüz ile beraber. Torasan boğazına Sineklikapız ve Tekmezar yaylası üzerinden girerek, bu  sakin, uzak dağ vadileri sisteminde üç ilk çıkış gerçekleştirdik. Bunlardan biri aynı zamanda  dağın ilk çıkışı oldu, böylece üç  isimsiz zirveyi de isimlendirmiş olduk.

1- KATEDRAL DAĞI (3000 m), ‘Yugoslav’ rotası,  550 m uzunlukta, 8 ip boyu, geneli  IV+, kiliti VII derece zorlukta geleneksel rota, 25 temmuz 2011 (dağın ve rotanın ilk çıkışı).  Vayvay boğazına girerken hemen sağda olan bu masif, kaleyi andıran kaya zirvesine isim verdik. Rota, çok zor ve çok çürük, ortalama VII dereceye varan bir kilit ip boyu içeriyor; 5 ip boyu kadar diklikten sonra  3 ip boyu kadar da sırtı kesen kuleleri tırmandık. Bu dağın kolay rotası yok, bu nedenle tırmanışı da olmamış. Rota ismini hayran olduğumuz, belki de dünyadaki en müthiş dağcılık ekolünden, Yugoslav’lardan esinlenerek verdik.

2- TAŞYALAK TEPE (3200 m)  ‘Whymper’ kulvarı, 500 m uzunlukta, geneli III+  serbest ve dik kulvar çıkışı içeren rota, 27 temmuz 2011 (rotanın ilk çıkışı). Katedral dağının ardında, güneybatısında yeralan ve onunla teknik zeminle ayrılan, Vayvay boğazının kuzey taraf sırt zirvesi olan bu dağa, kuzeybatı yüzünü bölen bariz doğal hat olan kulvardan tırmandık, geneli sağlam ve zevkliydi. Rotanın ismini ünlü İngiliz dağcı Whymper’den esinlenerek verdik. Dağa,  sevgili Mehmet Taşyalak’ı (Çukurbağ’ın Avcı Mehmet’i) anımsayarak, hürmeten isim verdik.

3- BÜYÜK TEKEYATAĞI TEPE (3250 m) ‘Dibona’ kulvarı, 250 m uzunlukta, geneli IV, IV+ sürekli pasajlarla dolu  serbest ve dik kulvar çıkışı içeren rota, 27 temmuz 2011 (rotanın ilk çıkışı). Vayvay boğazının güneyinde bulunan  bu belirgin zirveye,  zevkli ve dik, bazı etapları çürük kayadan oluşan kulvarı tırmanarak, sonrasında kolay bir sırttan yürüyerek çıktık. Torasan çanağına tepeden bakan ve Torasan çanağının en yüksek zirvesi olan bu dağ aynı zamanda ‘dağ keçilerinin yazlığı’ durumunda olduğu için bu ismi aldı. Rotaya yüzyıl başının önemli dağ rehberi ‘ Angelo Dibona’nın ismini verdik.

FİRST ASCENTS OF PEAKS AND NEW ROUTES İN THE REMOTE TORASAN RANGE OF THE ALADAG

This hot summer week, with my climber friends Dogan Palut and Batur Kuruz, we were able to explore new routes and even make the first ascents of some peaks and pinnacles in the remote Torasan region (NE side) of the Aladag Range. This part of the mountains is  really quite difficult to access, and there are  always problems with water. Anyhow, we made our camp in a protected hollow of a gully by a dripping water source from melting snow and were able to make 3 first ascents, as well as naming 3 peaks that were not shown on our map.

1- KATEDRAL DAGI (3000 m) ‘Yugoslav’ route first ascent, as well as the first ascent of this  huge rock spire. 550 m and 8 pitches long, IV+, VII- grade UİAA,  25th july 2011. This mountain resembles a cathedral in its architecture and it received a first ascent by it’s precipitous NE wall, with a very hard and crumbly crux pitch of VII-. A long, serrated line of gendarmes follow to its lonely, rocky summit and descent is a series of routefinding problems and finally an 80 m, 2 pitch rappel to reach the scree. The name of the route is  inspired by the best climbing people in the earth, the Yugoslavs! This peak has no easy route to summit, every route here requires rock climbing.

2- TASYALAK TEPE (3200 m) ‘Whymper Gully’ first ascent,  27th july 2011, 500 m, III+ gully climb. The route name is inspired by the legendary climber Edward Whymper and the peak named after the famous hunter of the Cukurbag Village, Mehmet Tasyalak.  This is a scrambling- easy climbing type gully  up a very nice, at times exposed couloir at the NW side of the peak, beginning from a nameless valley bowl. İt is obvious that, many years ago the map makers ascended this peak from our descent route on S face, the easiest route available.

3- BUYUK KECİYATAGİ TEPE (3250 m) ‘Dibona Gully’ first ascent, 27th july 2011, 250 m, IV+, a gully / chimney climb. The name is inspired by the famous Alp Guide  A. Dibona, from the turn of the 19th century. The peak was named after the Ibex goats living in cave almost by the summit of the mountain. The route is an  exposed, sometimes broken gully- crack- chimney line, overlooking the remote mountain bowls of the forgotten Torasan Range. Descent is by the snowy, far away alpine bowls to the NE side, and very long!
